Portuguese singer Mariza is to give a concert in Belgrade’s Sava Centar concert hall on 10 April this year. The widely-acclaimed fado artist has appeared in Belgrade on three occasions before, each time in sell-out venues and offering new and unique experiences for those present. This time round, Mariza will be making the Belgrade stop on her European Terra 2010 tour.

The Mozambique-born artist first gave a concert in Sava Centar in June, 2005, and then in October, 2006, promoting her third album Transparente. Two years later a third album came out – Terra – which was subsequently followed by Mariza’s concerts in Belgrade and Novi Sad.

The Portuguese traditional music fado – characterised by passion, sorrow, jealousy and lamenting – began to grow on Mariza when she was five and is now one of the most established singers of the genre. Not wanting to fall victim of stereotypes of women performers, Mariza’s attractive looks and short blond hair break with the tradition, while her distinctive voice, stage act and charisma have all contributed to her global success. During her visits to Belgrade, Mariza shares her impressions of Serbia’s capital and similarities she draws from them.
