The most popular Belgian band, Vaya Con Dios, fronted by charismatic singer Dani Klein, are putting on a concert at Belgrade’s Sava Centar hall on Monday, 3 May.
Vaya Con Dios have been in the hearts of pop and Latin music fans in Serbia for two decades, and they have made stops in Serbia during their tours on a couple of occasions. Most notably, it was the memorable concert at the Pop Music Festival in Vrnjacka Banja in 2008, while they had stormed the night at Sava Centar in Belgrade two years earlier.
Vaya Con Dios, were formed by singer Dani Klein and Willy Lambergt in 1986 in Brussels, and they soon started making music headlines and appeared in charts across Europe due to their unique style and the mixture of gipsy, Latino and jazz music. Their self-titled first album came out in 1988 and featured mega-hits like Just A Friend Of Mine, Johnny, Don’t Cry For Louie and Puerto Rico.
At the height of their fame, Klein decided to withdraw from the music business due to stress and the band remained inactive until 2004, when they released their comeback album The Promise. In October 2009, Vaya Con Dios came out with their latest album – Comme en est venu – with the songs’ lyrics from the record entirely in French.
