This year’s Tuborg Green Beat takes place on August 29 and 30 on Partizan basketaball courts at Kalemegdan Fortress. The musicians performing at the festival will be the singer Kelis, "Asian Dub Foundation", Goldie, Sandy Rivera, DJ Sasha, Satoshi Tomiie, Steve Lawler and many others.
Kalemegdan Fortress is the place that's representing history and tradition of Belgrade at it's best, which makes it the perfect and most beautiful location for music event which during last years has became tradition of Belgrade youth.
In two nights of the Green Beat festival, 29th and 30th of August 2008, you'll be able to see performances by a lot of international stars that will guarantee great time with DJ sets and live performances to all of the visitors of Tuborg Green Beat festival.
Main stars of the first festival day organized by Tuborg will be members of the British band “Asian Dub Foundation“ which was founded in London in 1993 by Aniruddha Das, John Pandit and Deeder Zaman. The band is famous as a combination of breakbeat, dub and reggae music. It became famous after the songs such as “Buzzin“, “Black White“ and “1000 Mirrors” recorded with the Irish singer Sinead O’Connor.
Apart from “Asian Dub Foundation“, the musician also performing on August 29 is the popular Welsh house DJ Sasha famous for hits such as “Higher Ground“ and “Be as One“, as well as remixes that he did for Madonna, “The Chemical Brothers” and many others. Bands responsible for heating the atmosphere on the first festival evening at Kalemegdan are also Steve Lawler, Sandy Rivera, Scarlett Etienne…
An excellent American r’n’b singer Kelis will perform on the second festival day. She was supposed to have concert at the EXIT festival, but cancelled the whole European tour at the last moment. Kelis Rogers-Jones was born in 1979 in New York to a Jamaican father and Puerto-Rican mother. Kelis started singing in a church choir and as a teenager played the piano, violin and saxophone. Her debut album “Kaleidoscope“, produced by Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo, was released in 1999 with and “Caught out There“ became a big hit. After the album “Wanderland“ from 2001, which did not gain much success, Kelis began touring with U2, while in America she performed with Moby.
Kelis found mainstream success after the release of her third album “Tasty” released in 2003, which sold over million copies. The great hits became “Milkshake“, “Millionaire“ and “Trick Me“. Her album “Kelis Was Here“ from 2006 was nominated for the Grammy Award, and singles “Bossy“ and “Blindfold Me“ were at the top of world charts for weeks.
Ticket sale is starting at the second half of July, and everybody interested will be able to buy one-day or set of two tickets, for both nights. Ticket price: 15 EUR. for one day; 25 EUR. for two days.
